An AI Workshop with Global Coverage and Many Functions in the Same Room
One half-day session, a genuinely dispersed communications function, and international participation — proof that AI readiness work scales across a function, not just within one team.

Challenge
Skanska's communications team had explored AI informally through ChatGPT, with no shared structure, no AI policy, and no consistent sense across the function of what “good” looked like or where to safely start.
Approach
I traveled to a Skanska branch office and ran a pre-workshop AI Readiness Assessment ahead of a hands-on half-day session, deliberately kept low-tech — post-its, boards, markers — covering current-state assessment, structured visioning (“what would work look like without your biggest pain point”), opportunity identification, and a 2-year roadmap. Since Skanska had no AI policy, I provided a template as part of the engagement. A member of Skanska's IT team also shared AI use cases already circulating with their Marketing team during the session, extending its relevance beyond Communications alone.
Results
16 attendees spanning a genuinely dispersed slice of the communications function — from day-to-day content and social execution to employee-facing communications — with multiple leadership layers up to the US Head of Communications.
A participant from Skanska's global headquarters in Sweden, extending the session's reach beyond the US organization.
The team left with a completed, Skanska-specific 2-year AI Roadmap, built live during the session rather than handed over as a template.
Delivered a full session workbook, presentation materials, and completed AI readiness assessment results for every participant — grounded in a pre-workshop virtual readiness briefing that tailored the content before the room ever filled.
Delivered an AI policy template where none previously existed, closing a real governance gap alongside the training itself.
100% of attendees reported increased confidence post-workshop, and 100% saw greater business value in AI implementation, per post-training assessment data.
Why This Matters
This shows the clear cross-functional and global reach of a single session—one room, one afternoon, a genuinely dispersed function, multiple leadership layers, and two continents represented.
